We’re a non-denominational, community, SATB (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass), audition choir.
Frequently asked questions
Why sing in Resonate Chorus over another choir?
Resonate strives to provide a wide variety of music to performers who wish to sing lush harmonies, perfect their performance craft and aren’t afraid of working hard to accomplish such.
Why do you have auditions?
As we work on medium to difficult music, we have a “starting point” for singers. This ensures that you don’t get overwhelmed or left behind. It allows us to work more on the “craft” and less on notes and words. Also, we want singers who can sing without vibrato, as much of our music is a cappella and precise tuning is highly sought after.
What ages do you take?
Teenagers (voice already changed) and older.
Where do you rehearse?
We currently rehearse at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in the Legacy Farms neighborhood.
1233 E Schoolhouse Road, Saratoga Springs UT 84045
Are rehearsals open to anyone?
Yes! We’d love to have you come and try us out and meet everyone.
Who is the director and what is his/her experience?
The director is Wes Dean. He is a conductor, composer, arranger, pianist and organist who loves choral music and has been in many choirs across the U.S. Moving from Dallas, Texas in 2018, he directed both the Groundbreaking Choir and the Cornerstone Laying Ceremony Choir for the Saratoga Springs Temple. He is an avid fan of a cappella music, especially 8+ voice groups (Voces8, Voctave, etc.).
How do you join the group and what are the requirements?
First, come and sing with us. If you feel you’re a good fit, you may request an audition. This is done with the director (or an assistant). He will check your range, your vocal clarity and ability and will talk with you about your skill set. If you’re a good fit (most are), members pay a $100/semester (two semesters annually) fee (which covers music and performance costs) and maintain an attendance percentage. Scholarships are available and may be applied for.
What is the cost to attend a Resonate concert?
Concerts are free to the public. We do accept donations and are a 501(c)(3) Not-for-Profit organization. Donations are used to offset music and performance costs.
